The other day, I found myself on North Street, in Pittsfield, right before the lunch time hour.  I wanted to try someplace that I hadn’t been to before, so I pulled out my handy dandy berkshiregirl list of places that I want to try.  With a quick glance of the list, I realized that I was right in front of ‘ On a Roll Café & Catering Company ‘.  I have been following their page on Facebook for quite a while now, and love(and often drool over) their posts, so I’ve been eager to actually try some of their food. On a Roll Cafe

Like many businesses on North Street, ‘On a Roll Cafe‘, is set back in one of the buildings that are like miniature strip malls, with an inside corridor that the businesses open into.  The café is at the end of the corridor, affording it a quiet, café atmosphere, removed from the hustle and bustle of North Street, though merely steps away from it.  They also have tables set up outside the café, in the corridor, lending even more of a café feel to the place.  berkshiregirl visits On a Roll Cafeberkshiregirl visits On A Roll CafeBaked goods at On a Roll cafe

On a Roll Cafe‘ offers a breakfast and lunch menu on most days, but they also have a dinner menu on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.  They make deliveries, and also offer off site catering.  You can also rent the space in the café for after hours get-togethers or events.

The menu has a wide variety of offerings, and they also have daily specials.  There is a baked goods area and deli cooler, that has things such as salads, hummus plates, and tuna sandwiches to grab and go.  I had a hard time deciding on what to order, as there were quite a few vegan options for me, so I left it up to the chef as to what to make for me.  Good decision on my part, as he ended up making me a grilled veggie wrap, with perfectly grilled zucchini, peppers, artichoke hearts, and more, all dressed with a delicious balsalmic glaze.  He also put in a side of sweet potato fries and a pickle.  My lunch was great, and very filling, and I look forward to returning to try some of their other menu items (they have falafel!!), and it is definitely a place that I would like to meet someone for lunch, or head to when I need a quieter place to work in the downtown area.

Have you ever eaten here?  Had food from the café delivered to you?  I think that they would put on a great catered event, and will definitely keep them in mind for future events. On a Roll Cafe

Love love love this place! we often go when we have a longer lunch time at my school

One of my favorite places for brunch in Pittsfield – they have truly great coffee! Although my dairy allergy (and vegan ethic) makes me wish they had soymilk, the coffee is so good I can drink it black, and I am NOT a big coffee drinker! They go out of their way to accommodate any dietary requirements or preferences. Highly recommended.

I wish all places would carry soy or almond milk as a choice for us vegans, but thought they had a pretty decent vegan selection for being in downtown Pittsfield! This place is definitely on my short list of places to go when I am in that area!
