Beautiful BerkshiresOkay, what is up with this weather?  What happened to my summer?  Definitely not a beach day, so I spent the day in search of a unicycle for my daughter’s birthday.  I first stopped at Plaine’s  bike shop, and though they had many cool  bikes, there were no unicycles to be found.  The person working was super helpful though, and told me she could get me one by the next day.  Since I was in Pittsfield, I headed over to Wood Bros. Music to look for another little gift.  Trying to keep my son from playing every instrument  in the place is always a task, so kept the shopping there as brief as possible!  I then headed down to South County, to check out Berkshire Bike and Board .  This store is always fun to check out, because they carry all of the latest products, and the staff is very knowledgeable about the stuff that they carry.  Though they had a couple of unicycles in stock, they were not the right size for my daughter.  I have heard from friends that they can’t keep them in stock, and since the Berkshires boasts one of the biggest unicycle teams in the country, I can understand the shortage.  Oh, well … the search continues!

On the way home, I got hung up in some Lenox traffic, as people made their way to the Beach Boys concert going on at Tanglewood .  Perhaps, since the weather(no rain) is cooperating, I’ll be able to hear the sounds of the concert wafting up to my backyard.  It’s one of the perks of living within range of Tanglewood, and I have listened to many great shows over the years, without having to leave my house!  Do you search out local shops when looking for a gift?  Not always easy in such a large county, but it makes me feel good about keeping my money in our local community.  Are you at Tanglewood tonight, listening to the Beach Boys?  If you are, I hope that you are having a blast!!
