Living in a small demographic area, and being a firm believer in a local economy, I really love being a member of a local credit union bank. There are a lot of wonderful benefits to being a member of a bank like Greylock Federal Credit Union, and one benefit that my family is thoroughly enjoying this week is the annual Youth Club week. It is Spring Break for area schools, and Greylock really ramps up the fun for kids who are members of the bank. They offer a wide variety of activities throughout the county, have bonus gifts for kids who make deposits, and also hold different raffles during the week.
This year, my kids have already taken part in much of the fun presented by Greylock. On Saturday, we went to their free day at Hancock Shaker Village, to see the baby animals on the farm. It ended up being a gorgeous day, and the kids had a blast touring the buildings, checking out the baby animals and listening to David Grover and Gang, who were playing just outside the round barn. On Monday and Wednesday, admission to the Berkshire Museum was free, with Birds of Prey and Earth day activities planned, along with a bike raffle. Tuesday found us at the Beacon Cinema, where we were treated to a movie( Mall Cop 2), popcorn and a drink. My kids really enjoyed the movie, and were happy that it was a age appropriate movie for them. Still to come this week are bowling at the Cove in Great Barrington or at Valley Park Lanes in North Adams. The week wraps up with a scavenger hunt on Friday, where more prizes will be awarded, and yummy treats handed out on Saturday
Throughout the week, whenever a child makes a deposit, they get to pick out a small gift( usually a Webkinz stuffed animal) and get a chance to enter the giveaway at the end of Youth Week. There are great prizes to be won, from an Ipad to an Xbox 1, to the ever popular American Girl doll. My kids love this giveaway, and dream of winning every year. Last year, my daughter actually won the American Girl doll, so this year we are collectively rooting for my son to win his Xbox 1. We are keeping our fingers crossed! Also, if your children bring in another kid and that kid opens a youth account during Youth Week, both kids get a $15 Visa gift card, and they also get two movie tickets
Banking at Greylock has always been a breeze, and they are always more than accommodating whenever I need services, but the fact that they value our youth, and make banking so much fun for them, really makes this bank special to me. If you are looking for a new bank, or have a child who is ready for their first bank account, I recommend Greylock for your banking needs.
