Shakespeare & Co.I was born in the Berkshires, and have always believed in ghosts.  Luckily for me, the Berkshires seem to have an abundance of ghosts and the stories to go along with them.  When I was younger, I lived in Pittsfield, and often  saw a ghost of a Native American man, who would peek in Continue reading the story "Ghosts in the Berkshires"

Snow means different things to different people around New England.  Kids,  of course think the more the better, and will gladly spend hours playing in the frigid temperatures.  There are the outdoor sports enthusiasts, who pray for the fluffy stuff, so they can get out on the slopes or hit the trails.  Then there are those of us, who are either just muddling through, praying Continue reading the story "Winter snow in the Berkshires"

Fresh ProduceWe are fortunate, in the Berkshires,  to live in the land of abundant farms and people who are committed to healthy foods, as a way of life.  In the summertime, it's easy to find fresh, local produce. There are farmer's markets, roadside stands, and if you don't garden yourself, you know someone who does, that will willingly supply Continue reading the story "Natural Food Stores in the Berkshires"

shows at the Whitney Center for the ArtsThe cold weather wasn't giving in, so I eventually had to.  This past weekend, I layered on some warm clothes, and ventured out to Pittsfield, where there were multiple art show receptions that I wanted to attend.  There were also several writer's workshops that I found my way to, so Continue reading the story "Art weekend in Pittsfield"

berkshiregirlThis weekend, I decided to come out of my hibernation and face this never-ending winter that has everybody moaning and groaning.  I had told myself recently, that I wasn't going to go out in the elements( except when absolutely necessary), until I could go out in my flip flops and short sleeves.  I know, not a Continue reading the story "Visiting the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers"

Froyo heaven at Ayelada…..

ayelada Like many other things, the Berkshires were slow to welcome the frozen yogurt phenomenon to our area.  Since it has arrived however, it has become a standard business in almost every big town in the county.  They are all fine and well, I mean, who doesn't like yummy froyo with tons of tasty toppings piled on?  But, out of all Continue reading the story "Froyo heaven at Ayelada….."

Opening children’s eyes to the fun in reading!

Family Literacy NightEvery year, my children's elementary school holds a literacy night, inviting families to come and participate in the fun of reading.  The theme of this year's event was entitled, 'Literacy Knight', and of course centered around medieval times.  There were fantastic cardboard 'castles', set up all throughout the school.  As part of the event, Continue reading the story "Opening children’s eyes to the fun in reading!"

A visit to Peter Alvarez Salon in Lenox

Like most women, I am fickle about my hair.  Of course, I am the opposite of most women, who visit hair stylists on a regular basis, and use products and implements to get their hair just right.  I never used to cut my hair, it just grew to its natural state, and I loved it.  I didn't color or style it any special way, it just Continue reading the story "A visit to Peter Alvarez Salon in Lenox"

Finding a good breakfast in the Berkshires

There was a time, that finding a good breakfast in the Berkshires was a pretty easy task for me.  That was back when a fantastic café existed and I still ate dairy and eggs.  The café was one of the few places in the county that you could get a delicious, gourmet(but still 'down home' tasting) meal for breakfast or lunch.  Sadly, they closed last year,  taking my main 'go Continue reading the story "Finding a good breakfast in the Berkshires"
